A paper template is included with your doorbell to show where the mounting holes are placed. The template is shipped with the doorbell opening key attached. If you are drilling into a wall or replacing an existing chime where you might be near live electrical wires, it is important to turn off all power to the location from the circuit breaker.
Please consult a qualified person with experience installing doorbell cameras. Tape the paper template to your flat surface from 40 - 48 inches The template aligns with mounting holes that are molded into the doorbell backplate. Using the mounting holes ensures your doorbell can close as designed. Note: It is important that the backplate is flat when mounted. Attaching to uneven surfaces can bend the backplate and reduce weather resistance. If you are not using existing wires, but they are present, use the included grey terminal caps to cover each exposed wire tip.
Exposed live wires can spark when in contact with each-other or any conductive surface. If you are connecting to your existing chime wiring, attach one wire to each terminal, then secure the backplate. Polarity is automatically discovered by the doorbell.
Note: Connecting to your wiring does not replace battery power. U se the provided screws to secure the backplate to your location.
If needed, there are two wall anchors made of white plastic that you would insert into the drilled hole before placing the backplate on your surface. When you insert the mounting screw, these will expand to fill space.
Slide the Blink doorbell onto the pins on the backplate, then press firmly with moderate force against the backplate, then 'down' to seat the hooks. If your wires provide less than 16 - 24vdc, the Blink Video Doorbell enters Event Response, and you are not able to directly control the camera from the Bink app. In Event Response, all setting changes must be completed by pressing the doorbell ringer button to 'wake it up' and update the configuration, or wait for the once-daily check-in.
Please view the next section "Event Response" for more details. In a "wired" installation, the Blink Video Doorbell is connected to wiring that you already have.
When the Blink doorbell button is pressed, your chime can be activated at the same time a notification is sent to your Blink app. Electrical shock hazard. It is important to use the slots as shown in the image, because the doorbell backplate screws go into the hollow posts.
